Previous Writing Prompts

I have just read a great book called Feathertide about a girl born half human, half bird and she falls in love with a mermaid. So this week is all about the fantastical! In 250 words, create a description of a completely made up person, creature, monster etc. Were they born that way? Cursed? A wish gone wrong?

This week's writing prompt is 'Mystery'.

I have spent hours and hours over the last few days, searching for a self catering cottage in the UK. It has inspired me to use this for the writing prompt this week. 

​

Write a short piece of fiction featuring a holiday cottage. The theme is mystery, so perhaps something is discovered at the cottage - an old letter? A photograph? A hidden box? Something in the garden that the dog digs up? Has it been there for years or left by the previous guests?

This week's writing prompt is 'Envy'.

Looking at the photo, what is it that she is struggling to look at? Is she looking at someone holding a trophy she wants to win? Is she in love with a person she can't have and envies his new love? Is she sick of never having enough money for food and her friend has just posted on social media an amazing house she has just bought?

Write a short piece of fiction with this woman as the main character, with envy being the main theme.
